June 18, Wednesday at 6:00 pm – Saga Dawa Duchen – Chöd Practice and Tsok
Buddha Shakyamuni's Enlightenment and Parinirvana are celebrated. He became enlightened during a full moon night in Bodhgaya and entered parinirvana in Kushinagar. The Chöd practice helps dispel obstacles.

 

June 21, Saturday at 8am to June 28, Saturday at noon – Riwoche Temple Annual Retreat 2008
Venerable Khenpo Sonam Tobgyal Rinpoche's retreat will be Dzogchen teachings on the Bardo Thodol, including the Six Commentaries on the Bardo and Dzogchen meditations and practices. There will be an empowerment of the 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities. The retreat will be held at the Riwoche Temple. Attendance of the full week is required. Registration must be made prior to the retreat, in advance of the registration deadline, to reserve a spot. This deadline has been extended to Friday June 13th. Tibetan Language and Musical Instruments Classes

Khenpo Pema – Khenpo Pema Wangdu graduated from His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche's shedra (monastic college) and completed his three-year retreat at His Holiness' monastery. Khenpo Pema is an excellent Umdze (chant leader) and instructor. He is teaching Tibetan phonetics based on the Medicine Buddha practice on Tuesdays from 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm. The cost is $7. Khenpo Pema is also teaching Tibetan language classes on Thursdays at 6:45 pm to 7:45 pm. The cost is $15 for these group classes.

Khenpo Lophel – Khenpo Lobsang Tshephel (Lophel) graduated from Dzongsar shedra (monastic college) and, as well as a scholar, is an excellent musician, especially the rgya-gling (Tibetan oboe). Khenpo Lophel is offering one-on-one instruction or group lessons. The cost is $15 for group lessons.

Green Tara Puja at 9:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Riwoche Temple is only open for practice during scheduled practice times. Only Tenpai Jindag may request to practice in the Temple at other times.
