Shantaraksita was a prominent adept, scholar and translator, invited to Tibet in the 8th century by King Trisong Detsen. He assisted Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) to establish the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet. He wrote the Tattvasamgraha, an analysis of Buddhist beliefs and tenets in four sections detailing the paths of purification.
